Meet Esther
Esther Christiana Sellu is a registered nurse with more than 26 years of experience serving others and a devoted mother of five sons. One of the most life-changing parts of her journey has been raising her son Jojo, who is autistic.
Through Jojo, Esther has learned patience, unconditional love, and a deep compassion for people whose challenges are often misunderstood. He has taught her to see the world through a different lens—one filled with small victories, unexpected joy, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty in every child.
While the journey has included moments of fear, uncertainty, and many prayers, Esther’s faith in Jesus Christ has carried her through every step. Feeling called to share her experience, she began writing to encourage other families navigating the autism journey.
Through her book The Upside of Autism, and a children’s illustrated companion book, Esther hopes to help others look beyond the diagnosis and discover the beauty, purpose, and unexpected blessings along the way.

Autism is not a journey walked alone. For Esther and her family, it has been a path filled with challenges, growth, patience, and unexpected joy.
JoJo’s story is also the story of the people who love him — especially his big brother Cy, whose perspective brings another layer of understanding to the autism journey.

Cy’s journey alongside his brother is equally powerful. As a sibling, he has learned compassion, understanding, and the importance of support within the family. Their bond reflects the strength that comes from love, patience, and shared experiences.
Together, their story is a reminder that every family’s journey is unique — and within that journey, there is always growth, connection, and joy.

Edward’s journey was one of growth through faith. What began with trepidation became a testimony of trust in God’s grace, guided by prayer and a deep desire to do what was needed for his family.
Through that faith, he embraced his role with strength and intention — supporting Esther, uplifting his family, and helping to build a foundation grounded in love, patience, and purpose.
Together, the family continues to grow, learn, and move forward — embracing each moment with resilience and love.
